Nova Apartments

You know what's funny about Nova Apartments?

You know what’s funny about Nova Apartments? I walked past it three times before realizing this was actually the place I’d booked. It sits on Bratislavská street looking more like a residential building than a hotel – which, honestly, turns out to be exactly why it works so well. The entrance is understated in that Czech way where they don’t feel the need to announce everything with neon signs and marble lobbies.

Once you’re inside though, you get it. These aren’t hotel rooms, they’re proper apartments with kitchens that actually have all the utensils (I mean, how many times have you found a kitchen with exactly one fork?). The space feels lived-in without being worn down, if that makes sense. My unit had these big windows facing the courtyard, so mornings were quiet – no traffic noise from the main street. The furniture isn’t trying to be Instagram-famous or anything, just solid, comfortable stuff that works. I actually ended up cooking dinner a couple nights because, well, when you’re staying near the city center and you’ve got a proper kitchen, why not grab some ingredients from the market on Zelný trh?

Speaking of location – and I hate when people just say “great location” without explaining what that actually means – you’re about a fifteen-minute walk to the old town square, maybe twenty if you stop to look at things. But here’s the thing locals know: you’re right in the sweet spot where you can walk to everything interesting without paying those insane city center prices for everything. There’s a decent grocery store literally two blocks away, and the tram stop on Bratislavská gets you anywhere else in Brno pretty easily. The neighborhood has that authentic residential vibe during the day, then comes alive in the evenings when people are heading out. Parking was surprisingly manageable too – they’ve got spots available, though you’ll want to book that in advance during summer months when everyone’s visiting.

The building itself has this solid, old-school Czech construction thing going on, which means thick walls and actual quiet at night. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – none of that awkward hovering-around-the-desk thing while they try to upsell you on breakfast packages. The woman at reception actually gave me a hand-drawn map with her favorite coffee spots marked on it, which honestly told me more about what kind of place this is than any official amenities list could. Sure, it’s a three-star property, but that 8.7 rating isn’t inflated – it’s just doing the basics really, really well. The shower pressure was solid, the Wi-Fi didn’t cut out during video calls, and the beds were comfortable enough that I didn’t spend the first night adjusting pillows. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need, especially when you’re planning to spend most of your time exploring the city anyway.

Travelers should reserve a hotel in Brno at least two months ahead for major events like MotoGP or technology conferences, ensuring the best rates and prime locations near attractions.

Good

The owners were quite quick to respond when it came to issues.

What could be improved: We booked the property, got the check in information with the room number and the keys. We got there to learn that the room was double booked. Made for a super awkward conversation, but it was sorted out in the end.

The room itself is quite small and basic, which was fine as we were just using it as a stopping point on your road trip.

They ask for a 100 euro deposit for the keys. But they transferred it back in Czech Krona, which is then converted again into euro. If you are doing conversions back and forth, depending on your credit card you will lose a few euros based on your conversion fees.

Good flat

Clean, modern looking, equipment works.

What could be improved: They need an additional deposit, which they then send back a couple of days later after checkout. That feels fishy and also a little annoying, because you lose money because of the change rate (or win). Also an additional towel would be great, but maybe that's normal in Czechia. The rules they hand out feel also a little overbearing, but I guess that's based on bad experiences with customers.

Do not book this apartment unless you really have to. You deserve better.

What could be improved: Half of the photos are fake, including the main one. The apartment does not look like this. It’s empty and soulless. It’s in roma quarter. There is no wifi.
The property requires you to pay a deposit that will not be returned in full. They claim it to be a processing fee.

Wonderful

It was okay. Not bad but can be better :)

What could be improved: A little bit mess on the floor, not enough clean mugs and glasses :(

Pleasant stay

The apartment was spacious and well presented. There was a balcony looking out to the busy streets!

What could be improved: I had not noticed there was no WiFi available in the accommodation and also a missing TV: tend to think of those as a standard and didn't bother checking;)

Good

The apartment was good. Close to the city centre, the bed was comortable. Apartment was clean. Had some useful appliances.

What could be improved: 100 euros deposit for 2 simple metal keys is excessive. The money were returned after the trip, but the amount was 13 euros short (most likely due to comissions and currency conversions). I was asked to fill out an online form before paying this deposit, but the link was not provided and I had to ask for it myself.

Very Good

I liked the whole apartment as an arrangement and the balcony. Very nice bathroom too. The system with the keys was also convenient.

What could be improved: The only negative for me was that I stayed on the last floor and there was an open roof (glass ceiling), from where a lot of light coming. Also there was no cleaning stuff in the bathroom (e.g. chlorine)

Very Good

What could be improved: Check in process really time consuming. Booking.com reservation covers pretty much everything, that you have to fill in again on web page.

If you like to sleep late, don't get a room from the top floor (non dimmable window on the roof WILL wake you up no matter what you do)
