Špilberk Castle is maybe a ten-minute walk uphill – and I do mean uphill, so wear decent shoes – while the main square with all its cafes and that weird plague column is just a few blocks the other way. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night. You’d think being so central would mean street noise, but this little stretch stays surprisingly peaceful after about 9 PM.

The rooms themselves are where Casa B6 really shines. Everything feels thoughtfully designed rather than just “hotel nice,” if that makes sense. The bathrooms are particularly well done – good water pressure, which you can’t always count on in these old Brno buildings, and they actually provide decent toiletries instead of those tiny generic bottles. I stayed during a busy conference week in September, and while the city was packed, the staff somehow made check-in feel relaxed and personal. They knew the neighborhood inside and out too – pointed me toward this fantastic little wine bar on Údolní that I never would have found otherwise.

One small thing that might matter depending on when you visit: there’s no elevator, so if mobility is a concern, definitely mention that when booking. Also, parking can be tricky around here (welcome to European city centers), but they’ll sort you out with options nearby. The 10-rating honestly makes sense when you consider that you’re getting boutique-level attention and design in a spot where you can walk to Janáček Theatre for an evening show, then grab late-night beer at one of those cellar pubs on Běhounská. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re experiencing Brno the way locals do, rather than just passing through as a tourist.
