Iconic Apartment Mila Grohova, Brno Centre
You know what struck me first about this place?
You know what struck me first about this place? Walking up to Grohova 24, you’d never guess what’s waiting on the first floor. I mean, the building looks pretty standard from the street – typical Brno architecture, nothing flashy – but then you step inside Mila’s apartment and it’s like someone took everything that’s cool about Czech design and made it actually livable.
The location is honestly perfect if you want to feel like you’re living in Brno rather than just visiting it. Grohova street is one of those quiet residential roads where you hear normal city sounds – trams in the distance, people heading to work – but you’re not dealing with drunk tourists stumbling around at 2am like you would closer to the main square. It’s maybe a 10-minute walk to Náměstí Svobody, which means you can easily wander over for dinner or drinks, but you’re tucked away enough to actually get some sleep. I walked to that great little bakery on Kolliště street most mornings – locals queuing up for fresh rohlíky, nobody speaking English, exactly the kind of authentic experience you hope for.
What really won me over was how thoughtfully everything’s set up inside. The apartment has this lived-in quality that makes you feel comfortable immediately, like staying at a friend’s place who happens to have excellent taste. The kitchen actually works – I’m talking full-size appliances, proper knives, enough space to spread out if you want to cook something more ambitious than instant coffee. The bathroom’s modern without being sterile, and honestly, after staying in hotels where you can barely turn around in the shower, having actual space felt luxurious. The WiFi was solid (I was working remotely part of the time), and there’s good natural light throughout the day.
One thing I really appreciated – parking in central Brno can be a nightmare, but Mila had sorted out practical advice about where to leave the car without getting ticketed. These are the details that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for more than a night or two. The 9.7 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed there; it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in the city, but everything works exactly as it should. The check-in was smooth, communication was clear, and when I had a question about the washing machine, I got a helpful response within an hour.
I ended up extending my stay an extra few days because – well, partly because I loved Brno more than expected, but partly because the apartment made it so easy to settle in. You’ve got that perfect balance of being in a real neighborhood with real Czech life happening around you, but close enough to the center that you never feel cut off from what’s going on. If you’re the type of traveler who’d rather have a proper home base than hotel amenities you’ll never use, this is exactly what you’re looking for.

Exceptional
Vkusne, moderne, prerobený apartmán. Čistý, super poloha. Hneď oproti pizzeria, v blízkosti kaviarne. Milý majiteľ, mohli sme použiť práčku aj sušičku.
What could be improved: Pre nás ako rodinu bol kuchynský kútik veľmi malý. Asi najviac nám vadil pach, vôňa, neviem to identifikovať. V celom apartmáne. Podobné tým zasuvkovým osviežovačom. Ale nenašli sme nič čo to spôsobovalo.
