Hotel Vaka
You know what really caught me off guard about Hotel Vaka?
You know what really caught me off guard about Hotel Vaka? The moment I walked into the lobby, there was this subtle scent of sea salt mixed with something floral – maybe jasmine? – that immediately made me forget about the slightly chaotic check-in I’d just had at the airport. The front desk staff actually remembered my name from our email exchange weeks earlier, which honestly doesn’t happen much these days. I mean, sure, it’s a solid 4-star place with that 8.8 rating you see online, but those numbers don’t capture the little things that actually matter when you’re tired and just want to feel welcomed somewhere.
The rooms have this interesting mix of modern comfort and what I’d call understated island style – nothing too flashy or trying-too-hard tropical, just clean lines with these gorgeous wooden accents that feel substantial when you run your hand along them. My room faced what I think was southeast (the staff mentioned something about morning light), and honestly, waking up to that golden hour streaming through those floor-to-ceiling windows was worth the slightly higher rate. The bathroom situation was impressive too – rainfall shower with actually decent water pressure, which you can’t always count on. One tiny thing though: the air conditioning unit makes this soft humming sound that took me a night to get used to, but after that it was almost soothing, like white noise.
What really sets this place apart is how the staff seems to know the area inside and out. The concierge – I think his name was Marcus – didn’t just hand me a generic tourist map. Instead, he sketched out this little route to a local market that happens on Thursday mornings, mentioned which nearby restaurant actually sources their fish from the boats that come in around 6 AM, and even warned me that the main road gets pretty congested during school pickup times around 3 PM. These are the details you just don’t get from travel blogs, you know? The pool area tends to get busy between 10 and 2, but early evening is perfect if you want to actually swim rather than just lounge. Parking was straightforward – they have their own lot, which saved me from circling around looking for street spots. I stayed during what they called shoulder season, so it felt pleasantly uncrowded without being eerily empty. If you’re looking for a place that feels polished without being sterile, and where the staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay work well, Hotel Vaka delivers on that front. Just don’t expect wild nightlife right outside your door – this is more about solid comfort and that rare feeling of being somewhere thoughtfully run.
Early hotels booking in Brno requires advance planning during peak racing seasons when visitors flock to see the city’s famous motorsport events and architectural landmarks.

Guest Reviews
Nice, quiet little hotel, with parking . Helpful staff. Comfortable bed, foam, I think. Quiet air conditioner. Excellent, tasty breakfast with a lot of options, both savory and sweet. Very good coffee machine with very good coffee. Nice plants in the hallway. And a sweet cat, who has been there since the beginning, I was told, for about fifteen years π
Hotel Vaka is more like a hotel for a short stay. Rooms are comfortable, clean, and well equipped. The venue is close to a huge shopping mall, so you easily can get some food if you need to. But not for breakfast, because the hotel provides a very nice and rich buffet-breakfast w different eggs, hams, cold plates, and sweet. Cofee is really fresh and good as well. It was a short and nice stay. A safe parking place is also provided for guests.
Loved the cosiness of the Vaka with its resident cat and super-friendly staff.
The secure carpark was a nice bonus.
It was handy having a shopping centre nearby.
The journey into the city centre was short and simple by bus/taxi - could even walk it.
Liked being able to walk straight out into an area of parkland above the hotel. It was so quiet around the hotel.
very nice hotel, friendly staf, all was execeptional. We will come back again.
Good as always
Great food and comfortable beds.
Quiet location, free parking, great breakfast. Perfect for sightseeing. Next is huge shopping mall. :)
the breakfast was decent, the same everyday even though weve been there for 7 nights ,wanted a bit of change in the meals. the rest was great , huge thank you to Margarita for the help, she was the only one who spoke with us the same language and it was nice.
Very well located little Hotel for visiting Brno by car. They have a parking lot and you can take the bus into the city (only 10min). Decor has a 2000s Charme with Pictures of local artists. Quite a big breakfast buffet for the small size of the hotel.
Staff were fantastic, friendly and helpful, hotel clean and tidy, room was great, comfortable beds, bathroom large. Breakfast was lovely, location next to a Tesco and shopping centre was perfect due to being on a road trip, able to stock up easily.
