Bašty Apartments
You know what struck me first about Bašty Apartments?
You know what struck me first about Bašty Apartments? It’s tucked away on this quiet little street called Bašty – honestly, I almost walked past it because it doesn’t scream “tourist accommodation.” But that’s actually what makes it work so well. You’re staying in what feels like a proper Brno neighborhood, not some sterile hotel district.
The building itself has this solid, unpretentious Czech feel – I mean, it’s clearly been around for a while, but in a good way. The apartments are surprisingly spacious (which you don’t always get in European city centers), and whoever set them up actually thought about how people live. The kitchen isn’t just for show – you can genuinely cook a meal if you want to hit up the local markets instead of eating out every night. Speaking of which, there’s this little grocery store maybe two blocks away that locals use, and the morning bread smell drifting through the streets around 7 AM is something else entirely.
Location-wise, well, Brno isn’t Prague – and thank god for that, honestly. It’s got this relaxed university town vibe without the crowds trampling over each other for selfies. From Bašty 6, you can walk to the old town center in about fifteen minutes, but you’re far enough out that you’re not dealing with late-night party noise bouncing off cobblestones. The tram connections are solid too (line 4 stops pretty close by), which matters if you’re planning day trips or just don’t feel like walking everywhere. I actually found myself enjoying the evening stroll back to the apartment after dinner – the streets have decent lighting and there’s usually a few locals out walking their dogs or heading home from work.
The 8.2 rating makes sense to me – it’s not luxury, but it delivers on what matters. Check-in was straightforward, no drama with keys or confusing instructions. The WiFi actually works (shocking, I know), and the shower has proper water pressure, which… look, after you’ve traveled enough, these things matter more than fancy lobby marble. There were a couple of small quirks – the windows are those heavy European ones that take some figuring out, and the heating system has its own personality – but nothing that ruins your stay. If anything, it adds to the authentic experience of living like a temporary local rather than passing through in a generic hotel bubble.
Honestly, if you’re the type who needs room service and a concierge, this probably isn’t your place. But if you want to experience Brno the way someone who actually lives there might, and you appreciate having your own space to spread out and maybe cook a simple meal with ingredients from the local market, then Bašty Apartments hits that sweet spot. It’s three stars that feel honest about being three stars, which is refreshing in a world of places that oversell themselves.

A Really Great Apartment
This was a beautiful, well appointed and comfortable apartment in an excellent location
What could be improved: The 1600 checkin which wasn’t revealed until after I had made and paid for the booking
Špatná matrace, nízká na tento typ postele.
Lokalita
What could be improved: Hodně zbytečných překážejících dekoraci
Postel s nízkou matrací takže přes rám postele se velmi špatně vstávalo.
Гарне місце, куди хочеться повернутися
Чиста і комфортна квартира розташована в історичній частині місця.

Good
What could be improved: Airconditioning werkte niet.Blijkbaar net nieuw aangelegd, want monteurs waren nog bezig met afvullen koelmiddel
Cozy downtown place
Great location, right in the city center. Plenty of restaurants and bars nearby. Very nicely decorated, cozy room. Really clean, spotless. Nespresso machine with capsules. When we had an issue, the owner took care of it immediately.
What could be improved: The bed base was a little small so it kept falling out of the frame. The tv bolt was loose on the wall so we didn’t dare open it and watch it from the bed. Other than that, it was the perfect location.
