Bastion Apartments – Brno
You know what?
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from Bastion Apartments when I first walked up to that heavy wooden door on Bašty street, but honestly, this place surprised me in the best way. The building itself has this solid, old-world feel – I mean, you’re literally staying inside what used to be part of Brno’s medieval fortifications, which is pretty cool when you think about it. The apartments are tucked into this quiet corner just off Náměstí Svobody, so you get that authentic Czech atmosphere without the tourist chaos that hits the main square during summer.
The apartment I stayed in was actually bigger than I expected – these aren’t your typical cramped European city stays. The kitchen was properly equipped (not just some sad hot plate situation), and I ended up cooking a few meals there because, let’s be honest, eating out every night in Brno adds up. What really got me was the attention to detail – thick towels, decent water pressure, and windows that actually keep the street noise out. Speaking of noise, it’s surprisingly quiet at night considering you’re right in the city center. The only sounds you’ll hear are the occasional tram rumbling down Masarykova, but even that becomes sort of comforting after a day or two.
Location-wise, you’re golden here. Špilberk Castle is literally a ten-minute walk uphill – and I mean literally, I timed it because I’m that kind of person. The trendy Veselá street with all those craft beer spots is right around the corner, and if you need groceries, there’s a Tesco just past the cathedral. I actually found myself walking everywhere instead of using public transport, which says something because I’m usually lazy about that stuff. The front desk folks were genuinely helpful too – not just polite, but actually knowledgeable about the city. When I mentioned wanting to find some proper svíčková, they pointed me toward this little place on Pekařská that definitely wasn’t in any guidebook but served some of the best I had during my week in Czech Republic.
The only minor thing – and this is really minor – is that check-in can be a bit slow if you arrive during their busy period (seemed like late afternoon was when everyone showed up). But honestly, for what you’re paying and the quality you’re getting, it’s hard to complain. This feels like staying in someone’s well-maintained city apartment rather than a sterile hotel room, which is exactly what I was hoping for in Brno.

What could be improved: Один мінус -нема кондиціонера.
Wonderful
It's cozy and perfect for a family of 4. It had everything one may need. It was very clean. Located literally in the Brno city center.
What could be improved: The noise from the bar downstairs. The music stopped at 22:00, but the people remained outside, talking loud, singing etc.
Also the communication with the place was difficult, when you call the contact number, you reach a prerecorded menu and whatever you choose, you end up with "this has been sent to you in our instruction" and the system hangs up. It can be very frustrating, because the instruction contained a link that lead nowhere (404, page doesnt exist). I had to call several times and choose every possible option until I got connected to a living person.
Nice appartment - I would stay there again.
Good size apartment with en suite facilities. In very good order. Good AC. Well equiped kitchen. very suitable for single occupancy.
What could be improved: Disco nearby on Saturday night until 04:00. However, the windows sealed well and the noise was accaptable.
