But honestly, that turned out to be exactly what made it special. The location is actually perfect if you know Brno at all. You’re maybe a five-minute walk from Náměstí Svobody (the main square), but you’re tucked away on this side street where you won’t hear drunk tourists stumbling back from the bars at 2 AM. The building itself has that classic Central European charm – you know, the kind where the entrance feels a bit austere but then surprises you once you’re inside.

What really got me was how the apartments feel like actual homes rather than sterile hotel rooms. The kitchenettes are properly equipped (not just for show), which is clutch if you’re staying more than a couple nights or – like me – you get tired of constantly eating out. The furniture isn’t trying too hard to be trendy, just comfortable and functional, though I’ll admit the bathroom in my unit was on the smaller side. But here’s the thing about the location that the booking sites don’t really capture: you’re positioned perfectly between the old town and the more modern parts of Brno. Walk one direction and you’re at Špilberk Castle in ten minutes, walk the other way and you hit the shopping areas and that gorgeous cathedral. Plus – and this matters if you’re actually planning to explore – there’s decent public transport right there, though honestly you probably won’t need it much since everything interesting is walkable.

The 8.6 rating makes total sense to me after staying there. It’s not luxury by any stretch, but it delivers on what it promises without any unpleasant surprises. Check-in was straightforward (they actually met me at the building since there’s no traditional lobby), and the Wi-Fi worked properly, which… well, you know how that can go in older European buildings. I stayed during shoulder season in October, so I can’t speak to summer crowds, but the street stayed pretty quiet even on weekends. The only real downside? Parking can be a bit of a puzzle if you’re driving – street parking fills up and you might end up circling the block a few times. But if you’re coming by train or flying into Brno (which most people do), the airport bus stops close enough that you won’t be dragging your luggage too far. Look, it’s a solid three-star place that doesn’t oversell itself, in a neighborhood that feels authentically Brno rather than tourist-central. Sometimes that’s exactly what you want.
