Okay, so I wasn’t expecting much when I first climbed up to the second floor of this Kotlářská building – I mean, apartment rentals can be hit or miss, right? But honestly, this place completely surprised me. The moment you walk into apartment 7, there’s this bright, airy feeling that just works. The balcony is what really sold me though – you’re literally looking out over greenery instead of concrete, which in Brno is actually pretty sweet. I spent way too many mornings out there with coffee, watching locals walk their dogs in the park below.

What I love about staying here is how it feels like you’re living in an actual neighborhood instead of some touristy bubble. Kotlářská runs through this really authentic part of town where you’ll hear Czech being spoken everywhere, smell bread from the local bakery in the mornings, and see kids playing football in the park. The 15-minute thing to the center is legit – I timed it multiple times because I’m weird like that. You can either take tram line 1 or 6 (the stop is maybe a 3-minute walk), or if the weather’s nice, just stroll through the streets and you’ll hit Náměstí Svobody before you know it. I actually preferred walking because you pass by some great little pubs and cafés that most visitors never discover.

The apartment itself has that perfect balance of being clean and functional without feeling sterile – you know what I mean? Like, the kitchen actually has everything you need if you want to cook (which I did a few times after hitting the farmers market), and the bed is genuinely comfortable, not just “decent for the price.” The WiFi works great, which matters if you’re trying to get any work done, and it’s surprisingly quiet at night considering you’re in the city. I was worried about street noise, but the park location really helps buffer things. The only minor thing is that the building entrance is a bit old-school Czech – meaning the hallway lighting is on a timer and you might find yourself fumbling for keys in semi-darkness if you’re not quick enough. But honestly, that just adds to the authentic experience. The host was super responsive too, which you don’t always get with apartment rentals. That 9.8 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed here – it’s one of those places that just gets the details right without trying too hard.
