U Mamlasů
You know what?
You know what? U Mamlasů totally caught me off guard – and I mean that in the best way possible. Walking up to náměstí Svobody 10a, I was expecting just another decent four-star place, but this spot has this quietly confident vibe that grows on you. The building itself has that understated Brno elegance (if you know the city, you’ll get what I mean), and honestly, the location is pretty much perfect without being annoyingly touristy.
Here’s the thing about staying right on Freedom Square – you’re literally in the heart of everything, but the rooms are surprisingly quiet once you close those solid windows. I actually slept better than I expected, which is saying something since I’m usually paranoid about city noise. The staff genuinely seems to care about getting things right, not just going through the motions. Check-in was smooth, they knew the neighborhood well enough to give real recommendations (not just the obvious tourist traps), and I appreciated that they didn’t oversell anything. The rooms have this comfortable, lived-in quality – not fancy in a show-offy way, but everything works and feels thoughtful. You’ll notice little touches that suggest someone actually thinks about what travelers need, like proper lighting for reading and outlets where you’d actually want to plug things in.
What really sold me on this place was how it fits into Brno itself. You’re a two-minute walk from Zelný trh (the cabbage market – trust me, it’s more charming than it sounds), and you can easily explore the old town without feeling like you’re staying in some tourist bubble. The 8.4 rating makes sense to me – it’s the kind of place that doesn’t try too hard but consistently delivers on what matters. I mean, you won’t find a rooftop infinity pool or a marble lobby, but you will find yourself in a spot where locals actually hang out and where you can grab excellent coffee or a proper Czech beer without walking more than a block. Parking can be a bit tricky in this part of town (it’s pedestrian-friendly, which is great for walking, less great for cars), but they’ll help you figure it out. Honestly, if you’re looking for that sweet spot between authentic local experience and comfortable accommodations in Brno, U Mamlasů delivers without any of the pretension you might find at pricier places.
Hotels near me in Brno offer convenient access to the old town, where guests can easily walk to Špilberk Castle, Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul, and vibrant cultural venues.

Excellent! We would definitely go back!
We loved our stay with UMamlasu! The apartment was clean and cozy, very practical, and the location was perfect—right in the main square and close to everything! Thank you!
Very Good
Vstřícnost a ochota personálu.
Klid, vzhledem k poloze nebyl žádný hluk z náměstí slyšet.
Wonderful
Fantastic location.
We were able to check in early which was great.
What could be improved: 3 flights of stairs and no air-conditioned, but this was not a surprise as mentioned on the information
Good
Location is really good. It is in the city center.
What could be improved: There were smell of cooking and d moisture. Also design of table and chairs are uncomfortable.
Exceptional
Central to everything, nice and quiet and very clean
What could be improved: Lots of stairs but on plus side getting the steps in
Very Good
Very nice apartment in the middle of Brno, perfect location.
What could be improved: The house's front door was extremely loud. The shower in the bathroom is not properly designed, leaving the room flooded after showering.
Met expectations, overall good.
Great location for the apartment — although it's in the center, it's quiet. The apartment is very tastefully decorated. Everything needed for a short stay is provided
What could be improved: The bathroom is tiny, and the shower is open, so water gets everywhere. It might be inconvenient for individuals with a larger build.
comfy, convenient, somewhat minimalist
The location is in the very center of the old town, in an historic building. Windows look out into inner courtyard. Room in on third floor, with no elevator, just FYI. The room has the essentials (there was coffee, tea, sugar but no salt or pepper). Manager was responsive to phone and messaging.
What could be improved: the heat wasn't on when we arrived. We were told there was a space heater, but it was outside the apartment. The heat in the registers came on during the night, so it was comfy by morning. Furnishings are low-end Ikea. Not really set up for long-term stays.
Would stay here again
Great location, surprisingly quiet
Very Good
Very nice clean apartment in the city center. Small but very cute bathroom, equipped kitchen. I made a small change about the arrival, but the owner was very accommodating.
What could be improved: There were no toiletries (like shampoo etc) in the bathroom. They weren't written in the description (I checked), so it's my fault, but I thought it is common to prepare some ones.
