Apartmány Skryjova

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Apartmány Skryjova on that narrow side street – you know how those apartment-style hotels can be hit or miss. But walking into this place, I actually caught myself doing that little “oh, this is nice” intake of breath. The building itself has that solid Brno charm, and someone clearly put thought into making these apartments feel like actual homes rather than just hotel rooms with kitchenettes slapped in.
What really got me was how quiet it stays, even though you’re practically in the heart of everything. I mean, you’re a five-minute walk from Náměstí Svobody, but somehow the street noise just doesn’t penetrate these walls. The apartments themselves are spacious – and I’m talking genuinely spacious, not “European spacious” where you’re bumping into furniture. Each one’s got a proper kitchen with decent appliances (I actually cooked a few meals, which says something since I’m usually too lazy to grocery shop while traveling), and the living areas have that lived-in comfort that makes you want to sprawl out with a book. The Wi-Fi’s solid too, which matters if you’re trying to get any work done or stream something after walking your feet off exploring the city.
The location though – that’s where this place really shines. You’ve got Spielberk Castle looming up the hill if you’re into history and killer city views, and honestly, the walk up there is half the fun. Down the other direction, you’ll hit the old town center and all those winding cobblestone streets that make Brno feel like a fairy tale that hasn’t been completely overrun by tour buses yet. There’s this great little coffee shop just around the corner (I think it was on Hybešova?) that locals actually use, not just tourists, and a small grocery store close enough that you can grab breakfast supplies without planning an expedition. Parking can be a bit tricky in this area – it’s mostly street parking and you’ll probably spend a few minutes circling – but that’s pretty much par for the course in any European city center worth visiting. The staff was genuinely helpful with recommendations too, not just the usual “here’s a tourist map” routine. They pointed me toward some restaurants I never would’ve found otherwise, including this incredible little wine bar that I’m definitely not telling everyone about because I want it to stay exactly as perfect and uncrowded as it was.

Great stay in Brno
The accommodation was absolutely fine. The city center is close with tram. Parking is easy. We were happy with everything.
What could be improved: -
great apartments
We have been coming back to this house for several years. We are very happy to have found this house. The apartments are always very tidy, quiet, there is everything you might need. We really like that we can safely leave our car in the apartment yard. Picking up the keys is easy no matter what time we arrive.
Exceptional
Everything was fine.
What could be improved: -
Great stay, well arranged.
Staying at this place for the 3rd time. It is very cost and clean apartment with air conditioner and small kitchenette. WiFi works great, key pick up arranged in advance. The only thing to consider would be stay for elderly people - a lot stairs to get to the apartment.
Wonderful
The apartments are very clean and cozy. Clear instructions for check-in.
Exceptional
Very comfortable bed and bedding. Parking place for car.
Definitely a 10 of 10!
The accommodation is located a bit outside the city center (about 10 tram stops from the main train station), but for example by tram 4 it only takes about 15-20 minutes to get to the accommodation.
The area is a nice residential neighborhood, somehow cozy and quiet, feels very safe (even at night).
Tip: You should do your shopping in the city, because on the way from the tram to the accommodation I didn't see any shop.
Once you arrive at the accommodation you take the key from a box and go to the attic.
The accommodation itself is a small, cozy (because of the sloped ceiling!) studio with a kitchenette including a fridge and microwave and the necessary utensils (plates, cutlery, etc.) are available.
There was also salt, sugar and even coffee...
I really like the minimalist (meant positively!) style with a lot from Ikea, plus there are comfortable beds and a TV with Amazon Prime, Netflix, etc.
The mirror in the wardrobe doors makes the room bigger.
The bathroom is – compared to the living space – quite large and also has a window. There is a bathtub and even a hair dryer and a washing machine.
What also stands out: I only booked for one night and have often experienced in other (!) accommodations that cleaning was done less thoroughly then.
HERE it was definitely different, because everything was absolutely (spotless!) clean.
And: the view (mostly into greenery) is also very nice!
While check out in CZ is often already around 10:00 am (its so 1980s), you can stay here until 12:00.
Conclusion: there is absolutely no reason to deduct anything from the top score: 10/10.
What could be improved: If I REALLY have to find something (so if someone forces me): if you're a typical "city person", this area is a bit "quiet" and it might be a bit spooky to enter the house alone at night.
But hey... :-)
Excellent apartment - out of the centre of town, but easily accessible by Tram no 4 to Tomkovo Namesti (square) from the
An excellent apartment - spacious, clean and well maintained. Host responded promptly to all our queries. Brilla supermarket is easily walkable.
What could be improved: Nothing really, but it would be good to have a colander to drain cooked pasta, rice etc - and some cooking oil.
If you use the washing machine, remove all items on top of it, otherwise the spin cycle will throw everything onto the floor. The spin cycle will also unroll the toilet paper, but we didn’t check to see if this depended on how the paper roll was mounted!
