Apartmán Susan
You know what?
You know what? I was honestly a bit skeptical when I first pulled up to Apartmán Susan. I mean, it’s got that understated Eastern European charm that either works for you or it doesn’t – but this place really grew on me during my three-day stay. The building itself is one of those converted residential spots that you see a lot in this part of town, and while the exterior won’t win any architecture awards, there’s something refreshingly authentic about staying somewhere that feels more like a neighborhood apartment than a sterile hotel box.
The apartment itself surprised me in the best way. Susan (I’m assuming that’s the owner’s name, though I never actually met her) has clearly put some thought into making this feel homey without going overboard. The kitchen is actually functional – I mean really functional, not just a mini-fridge and a broken coffee maker like you get in most places. I ended up cooking breakfast a couple mornings because, honestly, the local market around the corner has incredible produce and it felt silly not to take advantage of it. The bed was firmer than I usually prefer, but I slept like a rock, and the windows have these heavy curtains that block out everything when you need to sleep in. One small thing that bugged me – the shower pressure starts strong but peters out if you’re in there too long, so maybe don’t plan on luxurious 20-minute rinses.
What really sold me on this place was the location, though nobody’s going to put it on a postcard. You’re tucked into this quiet residential street where you can actually hear yourself think, but you’re still close enough to walk to the main drag when you want some action. The old lady next door waters her flowers every morning at exactly 8 AM – it became my unofficial wake-up call, and honestly, there are worse sounds to start your day with. Parking was way easier than I expected for a 3-star spot, and the whole check-in process was refreshingly straightforward. They left the key in one of those lockboxes, sent clear instructions, and that was that – no hovering desk clerk or complicated procedures. For what you pay, it’s genuinely solid value. I’ve stayed in fancier places that left me feeling like I’d been nickeled and dimed to death, but Apartmán Susan just delivers what it promises without any pretense. If you’re the type who needs a concierge and room service, look elsewhere, but if you want a clean, comfortable base to explore from without breaking the bank, this hits the sweet spot.

I really enjoyed my overnight stay. The flat was clean and cosy. I loved the view from the 6th floor where I was staying. Mrs/Miss Lucka was prompt with answering messages and the communication was great. Everything went smoothy and I'm really glad I chose Apartman Susan and will surely book room with them again. The location was just a cherry on the top as it's super close to the Grand Hotel bus station. Would def recommend. 🥰
