You know what struck me first about APARTIA Skořepka 15? It’s tucked into this narrow street that most tourists probably walk right past, but honestly, that’s exactly what makes it work. I mean, you’re literally in the heart of Brno’s old town – I could hear the cathedral bells from my window – but Skořepka itself is surprisingly quiet, especially at night when the day-trippers head back to their buses.

The building has that solid Central European feel, sort of understated in the way Czech places often are. It’s a 3-star setup, and they’re not trying to be something they’re not, which I actually appreciated. The apartments are clean and functional – think modern fixtures in an older building, with those thick walls that keep things cool in summer. What really won me over was how the staff seemed to actually know Brno, not just the tourist highlights. The guy at reception (I think his name was Pavel?) gave me directions to this little wine bar near Zelný trh that I never would’ve found otherwise, and steered me away from the overhyped restaurants right around Svoboda Square.

Location-wise, you’re maybe a 5-minute walk to all the main sights, but here’s the thing – you can also just wander down to Česká Street for proper shopping, or cut through those little side streets toward the Spielberk Castle when you want to escape the crowds. I stayed here during shoulder season in October, and while the tourist areas were still busy during the day, coming back to Skořepka felt like slipping into a quieter neighborhood where actual people live. The 7.9 rating makes sense to me – it’s not flashy or Instagram-perfect, but it delivers on what matters. Good water pressure, reliable wifi, and you can actually get some sleep at night. Plus, there’s something to be said for staying somewhere that feels connected to the city rather than sealed off from it in some generic hotel bubble.
